The open-source spatial IDE — Enterprise GIS meets R, on your desktop.
Visual geoprocessing, exact curved geometry, surveyor-grade distance-and-bearing entry, an in-app AI agent, and reproducible R code from every single click — free, offline, and AGPL-3 open-source.
The full ouRGeo workspace: environment on the left, code/data editor + live R console in the center, interactive map on the right.
What is ouRGeo?
ouRGeo is a free, open-source desktop GIS built for analysts, researchers,
and anyone who works with geographic data. Under the hood it's powered by R's mature spatial stack
(sf, geos, terra, tmap,
ggplot2) wrapped in a modern dark-mode interface that bridges the gap between a point and click gui and a conventional code editor.
You never have to choose between point-and-click convenience and reproducible scripts. Every operation
in the GUI writes its own R code to the live console — so you can drag,
click, and see exactly what was run. Edit it, save it, share it, automate it. Nothing is hidden, and
nothing is locked behind a subscription.
What makes it groundbreaking
📐sfarc — Exact CurvesOur own R package computes length, area, buffers and overlays on true circular arcs analytically — where GEOS only linearizes or gives up.Learn more →
🧰87-Tool ToolboxPoint-and-click geoprocessing across seven categories — every tool generates clean, editable R.Learn more →
✏️CAD-Grade DrawingIndustry-standard digitizing: vertex/edge/midpoint/intersection snapping and AutoCAD-style precise coordinate entry.Learn more →
🤖In-App AI AgentA built-in assistant which can drive every aspect of ourgeo all behind closly gaurded permissions. You control every action the agents can make. Agent workflows generate R code making their action fully aditiable. A full spectrum of enterprise model providers can be used or local models can be run for fully offline work.Learn more →
🔌Data ConnectorPull live data straight from Esri, WFS, OGC, STAC, Socrata, CKAN, ERDDAP and more — as reproducible R import code.Learn more →
⏺️Code History & RecordingEvery click has a matching R response. Record a whole GUI session straight into a runnable, savable script.Learn more →
📏Distance & BearingType a traverse the way the deed is written — azimuths, DMS, quadrant bearings, curves and spirals — on the grid your survey was measured on.Learn more →
⌨️A Real TerminalYour own shell beside the R console — a true pseudo-terminal, so vim, git, top and colour all work as they should.Learn more →
🧩Plugins & the StoreAdd connectors, tools and panels written by other users — every listing installed and run by a moderator first. Publish your own.Learn more →
Why ouRGeo
Commercial GIS is powerful but locked behind licenses, subscriptions, and proprietary formats.
The open alternatives usually force a choice: a visual workflow (ArcGIS/QGIS) or a coding
workflow (R/RStudio). ouRGeo refuses that trade-off — you get both at once.
